Tax Tip Helps Our Kids

Looking for a great year-end tax deduction that helps thousands of students, as well as teachers and schools here? The Long Beach Education Foundation provides scholarships, teacher grants, assistance for Camp Hi-Hill, music and the arts, technology, books for school libraries, and school uniforms for children whose families cannot afford them. Each year the foundation also honors each school's most inspiring student. Unlike other charities, the Foundation uses 100 cents of every donated dollar for these purposes. Not one cent is spent for overhead since the Foundation has no paid staff. Donors may contribute any amount, but the Foundation invites these levels of giving: Long Beach Education Foundation Friend--$5 to $49 per year; Patron--$50-$99 per year; Honor Roll--$100 to $249 per year; Foundation Member--$250-$499 per year; Benefactor--$500 to $999 per year; and Superintendent's Circle--$1,000 or more per year. The Foundation recognizes educational excellence, supports efforts to improve education and helps all district students to learn. Donations postmarked by December 31 may be claimed as a tax deduction for 1999. They should be mailed to Long Beach Education Foundation, c/o Long Beach Unified School District, 1515 Hughes Way, Long Beach, CA 90810.
